Gesta to fight on ESPN card Aug.3

MERCITO “No Mercy” Gesta of Labogon, Mandaue City will fight Ty Barnett of the United States this Aug. 3 at the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas Nevada. This fight will be featured on ESPN’s boxing program “Friday Night Fights.”

The 24 year-old Gesta (25W-0L-1D, 13 KOs) scored an eight round TKO victory over Oscar Cuero of Colombia last April in another Las Vegas bout held at the Mandalay Bay. His father Anecito, a former kickboxer, was in his corner for this bout.

The undefeated Cebuano southpaw has already won fifteen straight fights since moving to San Diego, California. He is currently under contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions.

The 29 year-old Barnett (20W-2L-1D, 13 KOs) is from Washington D.C. In his last bout in May, he beat Robert DaLuz of Rhode Island by seventh round TKO.
