New Balance run fires off today

AROUND a thousand runners will don the red singlet of the “New Balance: Excellent Races Through the Philippines Series” which blasts off at 5 a.m. today at the Terraces of the Ayala Center Cebu.

The race features shorter distances of 10-kilometers and 5k and is designed primarily for starting runners.

In its first leg in Bacolod City, organizers managed to draw 800 racers. The next leg will be in Cagayan de Oro City.

All finishers will receive finishers bag and special New Balance laces. Prizes in cash and in kind will be given away to the race winners.

The 10k first placers will get P7,500 while P5,000 will go to the second placer and P2,500 for the third placer.

The top three 5k finishers will pocket P5,000, P2,500 and P1,500 respectively. All registered runners will also get 20 percent discount on New Balance products.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
