Indian national shot dead in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines – An Indian national was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen as the victim was driving through a Quezon City neighborhood Saturday morning.

The victim, Sukhdev Sing, 41, died immediately of several gunshot wounds from a caliber 45 pistol.

Case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Pascual Fabreag said the shooting happened along Kasayahan St., Barangay (village) Batasan Hills while the Indian national was riding through the neighborhood on his motorcycle.

Police learned that the victim was a resident of Mangga St., Fairlane in Marikina City.

A taxi driver who was walking in the area told investigators that he saw two men aboard a Suzuki motorcycle carry out the shooting.

At the time of the incident, the cabbie was walking in the neighborhood when he noticed Sing ride by on his motorcycle.

Two men were also tailing him closely on a motorcycle, the witness told police.

As Sing tried to make a turn, one of the assailants fired at him, causing the victim to fall off his motorcyle.

The gunman then alighted and walked toward the victim, firing more shots, after which he got back on the motorcycle and fled.

Fabreag said they were still looking into possible motives behind the shooting.
