Explosive device found near Manila Film Center

MANILA, Philippines—An explosive device was found near the Manila Film Center in Pasay City Thursday afternoon, police said.

Police Officer 1 Jeffrey Ablasa said the explosive device that appeared like a grenade was found by street sweeper Orlando Mesina wrapped in a plain blue plastic bag around 12:10 p.m.

Ablasa said Mesina was sweeping along the area when he noticed the plastic bag that was left some 100 to 200 meters from the film center.

“Upon realizing that it looks like a grenade, Mesina called the attention of police authorities,” Ablasa said, adding that a team from the Explosive Ordnance and Disposal Division immediately responded and contained the explosive device around 12:30 p.m.
