CEBU Energy and Toledo Power was awarded the top prize during the Hinulawan Festival float competition in Toledo City last June 12.
The power firms bested seven other individually artistic Hinulawan Float entries.
The win was an improvement from last year’s third place finish.
The float competition was one of the main highlights of Toledo City’s Hinulawan Festival celebrated every June 12 to thank patron saint, St. John of Sahagun, for the city’s abundance in gold and other mineral resources.
The winning float sported a Phoenix design intended to encourage Toledanos to embrace rebirth, power and faith – the legendary symbolisms of a Phoenix.
The design also symbolized Cebu Energy and Toledo Power’s passion for creating and regenerating resources such as energy and the environment.
Like a phoenix that can burn up and rise from its own ashes, Cebu Energy and Toledo Power also generates and regenerates power to enlighten lives and empower progress.
Representatives of Cebu Energy and Toledo Power received the award from Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, 3rd District Rep. Pablo John Garcia, Toledo City Mayor Aurelio Espinosa, Vice Mayor Arlene Zambo and Senate-aspirant Joey De Venecia.
