Locksmith shot dead in Agusan del Sur

MANILA, Philippines—A locksmith was shot dead Tuesday by a still unidentified suspect in Agusan del Sur, police said Wednesday.

Superintendent Martin Gamba, Caraga police spokesman, said victim Macarte Brioso was just walking on Osmeña Street in Barangay 2, San Francisco town in Agusan del Sur when the suspect, who was wearing a helmet, followed Brioso by foot and shot him at close range around 10 a.m.

The bullet from an unknown calibre was fired at the back of Brioso’s head that exited in his forehead, Gamba said, adding that it caused the victim to die on the spot.

Gamba said the suspect fled towards unknown direction after the incident on board a single motorcycle.

Follow-up investigation was underway to determine the motive behind the killing, he said.
