2 killed as wall collapses in Valenzuela village
MANILA, Philippines—Two people were killed and two infants were injured when a wall collapsed and crushed several shanties in Valenzuela City Tuesday morning, police said.
Senior Inspector Jovencio Urbien Jr., chief of Valenzuela police station 2, identified the fatalities as Christian Serrano, 9, and Rodel Tugoy Sr., 33, the father of the two injured infants Rhiyer, 1, and Rodel Jr., 2.
Rhiyer and Rodel Jr. were brought to hospital and were reported in stable condition.
According to Urbien, the victims were buried under the rubble of the collapsed adobe wall on Gen. T. De Leon Road near the boundary of Barangay (village) Ugong around 10:10 a.m.
He said the victims were inside their houses when the wall collapsed and fell over three shanties in the area.
