Palawan fisherman missing

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Manila said search and rescue operations were going on for a fisherman missing in Palawan, as four of his companions were rescued after their boat caught fire and sank off Puerto Princesa City on Saturday.

The fisherman was identified as Nonoy Kantoba.

PCG-Palawan district chief Comm. Enrico Efren Evangelista reported that the fishing banca Mikaela Lu caught fire in the vicinity of Dos Palmas Resort on Honda Bay at around 1 p.m., prompting the fishermen to abandon the boat.

A passing fishing boat picked up the survivors. They were identified as Randy Talangbang, 37, the skipper, and Joel Escoto, 33; Toto Alarco, 39, and Tenacio Gallares, 36, all of Puerto Princesa.
