Final leg of Cong. Red Tri series starts

TRIATHLETES gather in Danao City for the 3rd and final leg of the Cong. Red Tri Series, which will return to the Sands Beach Resort today and not at the Alegre Beach Resort as earlier reported.

A SuperTriKids competition will once again be held as a sidelight event after last weekend’s STK gathered a surprising number of 22 entries.

Organizer Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez said that more kids are expected to take part in the race in preparation for the Alaska IronKids slated Aug. 4 at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa.  The race is to usher the Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines slated on Aug. 5 at the same venue.

Today’s final leg will feature the sprint distance and the mini sprint for the STK and the duathlon.

The Triathlon Association of the Philippines will send a brand-new wireless timer display to help with the timing results.

CORRECTION IN RESULTS

Meanwhile, organizers made a correction in last weekend’s race in the 13 to 15 years old female category of the STK.

Instead of Ana Patricia Maximo finishing first, it was Mercy Issa Priagula who actually came in first and clinched the title.

Winners in the duathlon were Ervin Siton (20-24), Jezan Baldomar (25-29), Joseph Miller (30-34), Freddie Perez (35-59), Francisco Gomos (50-54) and Alexander Galon (60-64).

Rep. Ramon “Red” Durano VI finished second in the 40-44 while his father Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano also had a bridesmaid finish in the 60-64. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
