Kentkyle shocks Green in Customs hoop

KENTKYLE Cuisine shocked league-leader Customs Green, 81-78, Thursday night in the ongoing tune-up games of the Customs – 3rd Major Alfonso Abbariao Cup, Biggest Loser-2012 basketball tournament at the newly refurbished Basak, San Nicolas gym.

Green jumped to a, 24-17 lead in the opening period with Noel Medalle leading the charge. But Kentkyle responded with a scorching, 30-20 run behind pointguard Kenneth Maningo who exploded with 17 points in that stretch to turn the tide in its favor, 47-44, at the half.

The Cuisiners maintained its edge with an 18-13 run in the third for a, 62-60, lead heading to the final quarter.

Green finally caught up in the fourth and tied the count at 78-all courtesy of Noel Medalle’s booming treys. But Green committed a foul on Ramil Aniñon’s lay-up and the latter cooly sank his free throw to complete a three-point play and a three-point win for the Cuisiners.

Kenneth Maningo and Ramil Aniñon led Kentkyle Cuisine with 24 and 20 points, respectively, while Boodie Monteño and Noel Medalle paced Green with 19 and 17 markers.

Earlier, the visiting MJDL Brokerage of Mike Logarta led from start to finish and crushed host Blue of Chito Manahan, 81-71.

Jaymar Elloren and playing coach Fiscal Trinidad paced MJDL with 18 and 10 points, respectively, while Rizan Herbito and Ferdie Laraga led Blue with a game-high 27 and 16 markers.
