QC barangay chiefs can now suspend classes
Wondering if the bad weather would mean no classes in Quezon City? In the absence of a typhoon signal, you can now ask your barangay officials.
The Quezon City government has authorized village officials to decide whether to suspend classes in their respective communities due to heavy rains or flash floods.
This is “in response to the urgent need to coordinate efforts in the localized suspension of classes in the absence of a typhoon signal,” Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte said Saturday.
The chair, as head of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, is now empowered to cancel or suspend classes not later than 4 a.m. for morning classes and 10:30 a.m. for afternoon classes, Belmonte said in a memorandum. Julie Aurelio
