MANILA, Philippines – Senator Franklin Drilon on Thursday confirmed that he was among the six Senators who received pork barrel funds after the impeachment trial but belied talk that this was their “reward” for the conviction of former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona.

“If you look at the senator who got their pork barrel, you cannot ascribe any political motive to it because Senators of both sides of the aisle received their pork barrel,” Drilon told reporters.

He added that aside from him, Senators Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also got their pork barrel funds. Santiago and Marcos were among the three senators who voted for the acquittal of Corona during the last day of the impeachment trial.

“There is no political color to this. It is in regular course that these were released.  And I think what you should look at is how these entitlements are utilized,” Drilon added. Kate Evangelista, INQUIRER.net
