Power outages hit Davao City

DAVAO CITY, Philippines–Some technical glitches at the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines on affected the Davao area control center of the Davao Light and Power Company, causing a one-hour power outage in most parts of this city before noon Thursday.

Ross Luga, DLPC corporate communications officer, said technical problems at the NGCP briefly affected the sub-transmission substation serving Panacan to Puan areas, affecting about 189,000 residents.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience,” Luga said.

“Our sub-transmission substation is down affecting areas from Panacan to Puan because of technical problem at the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines at the Davao area control center,” Luga added.

He said gradual restoration started 30 minutes from the power outage, which occurred at around 11 a.m.
