MAN MAULED AFTER HEIST

A MAN was badly beaten by a group of people who collared and mauled him after he allegedly robbed a jeepney passenger in barangay Lawaan II, TAlisay City, yesterday morning.

Ian de Gracia, 31, of barangay Jaclupan, Talisay, had bruises all over the body when he was turned over to the police.

Gracia was accused of robbing Eliza Sarausod, 47, of barangay Perrelos, Carcar City.

Police said while Gracia and Sarausod were inside a jeepney, the man declared a holdup and demanded for the woman’s bag.

The woman resisted but the man choked her.

Some residents noticed the commotion and chased the fleeing Gracia.

The woman’s bag was recovered from Gracia’s possession, said police./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

BABY ABANDONED

A NEWLY BORN baby boy was found in a riverbank in barangay Lahug, Cebu City, on Monday night.

Police said a scavenger found the baby in a plastic bag dumped in a pile of garbage.

REVAMP AT CCPO

THE CEBU City Police Office (CCPO) has implemented a revamp among its personnel.

Chief Insp. Bonifacio Garciano, former chief of the Theft and Robbery Section, now heads the Investigation and Detective Management Branch where he replaced Chief Insp. George Ylanan.

Ylanan has been transferred to the Cebu Provincial Police Office.

Chief Insp. Sarah Jane Recla is now the chief of the Mabolo police precinct, replacing Chief Insp. Aureo Sanchez, who is now the chief of the traffic police.

Sanchez replaced Chief Insp. David Senor, who was named the new chief of the Mobile Patrol Group (MPG) and concurrent chief of operations branch.

Supt. Armando Radoc, former MPG chief, is still the deputy chief for administration.

The warrant and subpoena section is now headed by Senior Insp. Pedro Quvedo, who replaced the retired Senior Insp. Enrique Samosa.

Senior Insp. Gualberto Gabales took over as chief of the Mambaling police, replacing Chief Insp. Ryan Devaras, who is on a UN mission.

The Pasil police station is now headed by Senior Insp. Pablo Cabildo, while Senior Insp. Michael Angelo Beltran was named the new chief of the Talamban police./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
