12 teams battle for GAA basketball crown

THE Guadalupe Athletics Association (GAA) basketball tournament officially kicked-off last Sunday with a parade featuring the 12 competing teams from the corner of Calamba-Banawa road leading to the Guadalupe Sports Complex.

The event is dubbed as GAA Inter-Sitio Open 2012 basketball tournament and is competed by the different sitios of barangay Guadalupe.

Cebu City South District Rep. Tomas Osmeña was the guest speaker during the tournament’s opening program which was hosted by Guadalupe barangay captain, Michael Gacasan.

Highlighting the affair was the selection of the Best Muse which was won by the Cebu Vendors Credit Cooperative’s (CVCC) Rowena Carcedo Senoron who was also declared Miss GAA 2012.

CVCCO of Fabian Abellana also grabbed two other awards: Best in Team Uniform and Early Birds with complete attendance during the parade.

GAA President, Raul Sollano decided to group the 12 teams into brackets A and B with six teams each. Games are played every Sunday at 1 p.m.
