TWO trees yesterday fell on a passing SUV, almost trapping its driver in barangay Apas, Cebu City.
The driver, Dominador Lestino, 64, escaped unhurt.
The incident which took place during a downpour around 3 p.m. caused heavy traffic along Gov. Cuenco Avenue.
Part of the road became impassable when the Mahogany and Rubber trees fell, said Alvin Santillana, head of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.
The road was cleared of branches about three hours later.
“If the public will notice trees that are about to fall, they should trim the branches,” said Santillana.
“Trimming lessens the weight of the trees so that when strong wind and rain occur, trees won’t easily fall.” /REPORTER ADOR VINCENT S. MAYOL
