Although already assured of a semifinal slot, there’s still no letting up for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters as they blasted the Petron Blaze Boosters, 103-82, in an out-of-town game of the 37th PBA Governors’ Cup in Dumaguete City yesterday.

The Painters firmed up their hold of the solo number spot with their seventh win in eight outings. Rain or Shine and the B-Meg Llamados are already assured of semis seats.

The Llamados are ranked second in the team standings with a 5-2 (win-loss) card.

The two teams, however, still need to get as many wins as they can as the teams’ elimination round record will be carried over to the semis.

Rain or Shine denied Petron of formally advancing to the semis.

The Boosters suffered their fourth loss in eight games, finding themselves in a tight race for a semis berth.

Only six teams will advanced to the semis, while four teams will be booted out. So far, only the Alaska Aces are officially eliminated with a dismal 1-7 record.

Aside from Petron, also gunning for the remaning semis berths are Brgy. Ginebra (4-3), Powerade (4-3), Talk ’N Text (3-3), Barako Bull (3-4), Meralco (3-4) and Air21 (2-5).

Gunning for crucial wins today are the Bolts and the Tigers, who face each other in the first game while the Tropang Texters and the Kings collide in the main game.
