Was it a case of déjà vu? Authorities said they have yet to determine if the men behind the brazen robbery on Friday morning at Robinsons Metro East in Pasig City could be the same perpetrators of a heist in another Robinsons mall early this year.
“The two incidents appear to be similar, but we cannot make any conclusion yet,” Superintendent Alfredo Calama-an, officer in charge of the Pasig police, told reporters.
Two security guards were wounded after five robbers struck at the mall’s basement around 11 a.m. on Friday. The robbers took P550,000 worth of cash from two tellers of Robinsons Bank.
At Robinsons Galleria in Quezon City last March, armed men attacked the escorts of office personnel who were about to deliver cash to a money exchange outlet, killing one and wounding six others.
Chief Supt. Miguel Laurel, Eastern Police director, said the police were hoping to identify the Pasig mall robbers based on footage from closed-circuit television cameras.
