Heavy traffic reported along parts of NLEx Saturday afternoon

MANILA, Philippines — Some areas of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) saw a heavy volume of traffic on Saturday afternoon, according to the NLEx Corporation.
In a traffic update issued as of 4:15 p.m., vehicles were running at approximately 10 to 20 kilometers per hour (kph) after Balintawak Toll Plaza to NLEx Harbor Link Interchange (northbound).
Vehicles running at approximately 20 to 30 kph were also observed at Balagtas to Bocaue Interchange southbound, where counterflow is open from Taal Bridge to before Bocaue Toll Plaza.

Approximately two kilometers of traffic buildup were also monitored at the NLEx Harbor Link Interchange (going to NLEx Northbound/Mindanao Exit).
NLEx Corporation also reported on the traffic situations in the following areas:
- After NLEx Harbor Link Interchange to Libtong, Meycauayan northbound: approximately 30-40 kph running speed
- San Simon northbound: light traffic; blockage cleared from previously stalled truck
- Dau, Mabalacat (approaching Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway Ramp) (northbound): approximately 40-50 kph running speed; blockage cleared from previous road crash

Meanwhile, Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. is waiving the toll in all of its expressways in Luzon, including NLEx, SCTEx, Manila-Cavite Expressway, Cavite-Laguna Expressway, and NLEx Connector from December 24, 10 p.m. to December 25, 6 a.m. and December 31, 10 p.m. to January 1, 6 a.m.
Motorists can also enjoy free toll at all San Miguel Corporation expressways, including STAR Tollway, South Luzon Expressway, Skyway System, Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway during the same period of time. /das
