Jail guard chases, wounds 2 robbers

A jail guard on his way home shot and wounded two men after they robbed a woman inside a passenger jeepney in Mandaluyong City Monday.

Senior Superintendent Armando Bolalin, Mandaluyong police chief, said that around 10 a.m., Senior Police Officer 4 Jorge Delfin, a jail guard assigned in the city, was driving home on his motorcycle after finishing the night shift when he heard a woman’s cry for help.

He approached the woman who pointed to two men fleeing on a Suzuki motorcycle. She told him that they had snatched her necklace worth P15,000.

“When he caught up with them, he shot them to neutralize them. There was no intention to kill [them] but [he] just wanted to keep them from moving,” Bolalin said.

“We admire law enforcers like Delfin. His bravery should be emulated by the police force,” he added.
