THREE-TIME champion Convergys Wolves stretched their unbeaten run with an emphatic 123-31 blow out of the hapless Executive Boutique Lycans last Saturday in the 2012 Sun Cellular E-League for Basketball at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.
In tallying the most lopsided win in league history, the Wolves moved up to solo top spot in the northern conference standings with a perfect 5-0 (win-loss) slate.
Leading Convergy’s 92-point massacre was Ronald Mabanto, who banged in a game-high 23 points.
The Wolves toyed with the Lycans’ defense. Aside from Mabanto, Ibhar Je Del Mar, Dennis Morales, Ellison Rivera, Joseph Alnair Española, Ignatius Mark Loyola and Philip Villarin also scored in double figures and combined for 75 points.
Andrew Thomas John Hilvano scored 13 points, while Ray Frances Vertudazo had for 10 for the listless Lycans, who remained winless after in five outings.
Also scoring a big win was Odusee Rooz, who stunned the erstwhile unbeaten Accenture Sharks, 76-50.
Kenneth Robert Abrantes tallied 24 points, Earl Abellanosa scattered 18 markers, while Brian Downey had 12 as the Rooz nailed just their second against the same number of defeats.
Jasper Loreto finished with 23 points for the Sharks, who lost grip of the solo first place in the southern division race and fell to 4-1.
The Sykes Pioneers, meanwhile, bagged their fifth victory in seven battles with an easy 97-42 trampling of the Eli Global Underdogs./EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
