Delos Santos beats Tabal in Kapamilya Run

ZAMBOANGA’S pride Mary Grace delos Santos beat her rival Mary Joy Tabal of the Southwestern University in a tightly contested 21-kilometer race of yesterday’s 12th dyAB Kapamilya Run at the Parkmall grounds in  Mandaue City.

Delos Santos dominated the star-studded cast in the 21k race by clocking one hour, 22 minutes and 25 seconds.

Tabal, who has won a lot of races in the past year,  came in at second place with a time of one hour, 23 minutes and 22 seconds.

Aside from winning the 21k crown in the Singapore Sundown Marathon, Tabal has also topped the National Games of the Private Schools Athletic Association  last summer and her first trail run in Argao.

Madelyn Carter settled for third place, clocking 1:41:07.

Abraham Missous of Kenya captured the men’s 21k crown  by finishing in one hour, 11 minutes and eight seconds.

Fellow Kenyan Douglas Mwiti came in at second (1:12:43) while Adonis Singson placed third.

Completing the Kenyan domination was Francis Kakui, who crossed the finish line in 40 minutes and three seconds to rule the men’s 12k category.

Lovely Fe Andrin, 13, topped the women’s 12k race while her younger sister Cherry,10, ruled the women’s 6k race. Davao’s Joebert Carolino topped the 6k men’s side.

A total of  3,500 runners took part in the annual running event held in-line with the celebration of dyAB’s 17th anniversary. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
