BANK BURGLARY
The bank that was burglarized by minors in Lapu-Lapu City last Sunday violated banking safety rules making it an easy target for robbers.
Senior Supt. Anthony Obenza, city director of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO), said Banco Katipunan in barangay Pajo did not have a 24-hour security watch.
He said one of its tellers left P12,000 cash in its drawer and that its walls were made of Hardiflex plywood.
The bank was burglarized by four minors who took away the P12,000 cash left inside a teller’s drawer last Sunday.
Police said the burglars are local “rugby boys” who accidentally pushed the alarm button, which was connected to the LCCPO, causing them to flee without opening the vault.
Police said a laptop belonging to one of the minors was left in the bank.
The SWAT team who responded to the alarm met the culprits along the way, but failed to arrest them since they didn’t know they were responsible for the burglary./JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
