162 farmers in Ronda town receive land titles from DAR

A TOTAL of 162 farmers in Ronda town in southwestern Cebu received certificate of land ownership awards (CLOAs)  at the town’s multipurpose center last June 23.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Grace Fua,  the incoming assistant regional director of the Administration of Department of Agrarian Reform in Central Visayas, said she was optimistic that the department will help improve the economic well-being of the agrarian reform beneficiaries through the DAR support services delivery and the convergence of DAR,  Department of Agriculture and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to  promote greater farm production and higher income opportunities.

These support services aim to capacitate agrarian reform beneficiaries  and provide them access to micro-finance opportunities and assistance  through the Program Beneficiaries Development (PBD) component  that will make their lands more productive and enable them to venture in livelihood projects, Fua said.

The distribution of 96 land titles covers 104.9437 hectares of  untitled private agricultural lands — in barangays Butong, Can-abuhon, Palanas, Cansayahon, Ilaya, Langin, Liboo, Malalay, Poblacion, Vive and Tupas — that were placed under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.

Mayor Mariano Blanco III thanked the DAR for  the land distribution.
