Top runners sign up for 12th DYAB Kapamilya Run
SOME of the region’s best runners will be part of the 2,500 runners who have enlisted for this Sunday’s 12th edition of the DYAB Kapamilya Run at the Parkmall grounds in Mandaue City.
According to DYAB’s June Perez, among the top contenders for the race include Singapore Sundown Marathon 21k champion Mary Joy Tabal of Southwestern University (SWU), who will compete in the 21k category. She will be facing tough competition as Mary Grace delos Santos of Zamboanga and Madelyn Carter make up the list of other top Cebuana runners.
Aside from the local front, also seeing action in the 21k half marathon race will be the the Kenyan force to be led by Abraham Missous.
This weekend’s race highlights DYAB’s celebration of its 17th anniversary. Their anniversary carries the theme “Diyes Ug Siyete Na, Abante Pa”.
The annual fun run is also organized to stengthen ABS-CBN and DYAB’s charity programs.
This year,they are aiming to generate funds to help the victims of Typhoon Sendong, which hit Cagayan De Oro City late last year, and the earthquake victims of Negros Oriental. DYAB is also planning to to build a school building in an affected area in Negros Oriental.
The categories of this weekend’s race will be 21k, 12k, 6k and 3k.
