Robbery-murder in lapu

A 29-YEAR-OLD driver died after he was allegedly shot by one of three motor-riding robbers in barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City, yesterday dawn.

Francisco Alcer of sitio Soong, barangay Mactan, was rushed to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital where he later died.

Alcer was on board his motorcycle with his live-in partner  Leddie Millama when a backrider from another motorcycle  grabbed Millama’s bag.

Police said the man then shot and hit Alcer, who lost control of his motorcycle and slammed in the  pavement.

Mauling in talisay

A 19-YEAR-OLD man reported to police that he was mauled by his 14-year-old  girlfriend in   barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City, north Cebu, last Sunday.

Jan-Jan Abastas and his young  girlfriend were watching the Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley’s fight when  Abastas  decided to go to the well to  wash their laundry.

Police said the man asked the girl to help him with the chore but she  refused because she wanted to watch the boxing bout.

They ended up arguing.

Irked, the girl grabbed Abastas’ bagful of clothes and left the house.

He followed her and tried to grab his bag back but she bit him and struck him in the neck.

The man told police he wanted to return the girl to her   parents in  Carcar City.correspondent gabriel bonjoc

Unlicensed firearm

A 35-year-old security guard was arrested at a police checkpoint on Sunday for bringing an unlicensed gun in a jeepney  bound for Mandaue City.

Jermie Zoilo of barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City,  was arrested after jeepney driver Rockliff Mondigo told  policemen at the checkpoint that the passenger was seen pulling a firearm in and out of his  backpack.

Police seized an unlicensed firearm with five live  bullets and a tear gas cannister from Zoilo.

The guard is now detained at the Basak police precinct.

Police said the gun did not belong to the security agency that Zoilo worked in.

The weapon was a paltik gun with no  serial number.
