Armed men abduct 3 farmers in N. Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines – Three farmers were taken hostage by a group of armed men who  stormed a village in Tulunan, North Cotabato, on Tuesday morning, a police field report reaching the provincial police office here said.

The report said some 300 villagers in Barangay (village) Popoyon also fled as a firefight broke out between the armed men, led by one Sura Pamansag, and responding soldiers from the 38th Infantry Battalion.

The armed men, the report said, had retreated, bringing with them hostages Robert Bisales, Arjay Manlatas and a certain Noc-noc, along with 10 carabaos they forcibly took from the villagers.
