MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Jejomar Binay on Tuesday called on Filipinos to remain united in the fight for better life.
“Ako’y nananawagan sa lahat – anuman ang ating mga samahan at sentimiyentong rehiyonal, sektoral, pulitikal, o pananampalataya—na tayo’y magkaisa sa iisang layunin, at iyan ay ang pagbibigay ng magandang buhay sa bawat Pilipino,” Binay said in a statement as the country celebrates its 114th Independence Day.
Binay said the occasion was also a time to remember our heroes who fought for our freedom.
“Habang ipinagbubunyi natin ang pagsilang ng pinakaunang republika sa Asya, sariwain din natin ang kadakilaan ng ating mga bayani na lumaban upang mapalaya ang bansa at ang sambayanang Pilipino,” he said.
Binay led led the country’s Freedom Day rite held at the Rizal Park, Luneta in Manila.
Other officials present, aside from Binay, were Army Chief Major General Triztan Kison, former Philippine National Police Chief Edgardo Aglipay, and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.
