LABORER KILLED IN CEMENT MIXER MISHAP

A 31-YEAR-OLD construction worker died after he was pinned inside a cement mixer in barangay Estaca, Compostela town, northern Cebu.

Jonathan Rondina, an employee of John Joseph Block and Merchandising, was inside the cement mixer cleaning it when the mixer started moving.

It was later found out that Rondina failed to shut down the main breaker of the cement mixer before he went inside, said PO2 Arnie Goc-ong.

2 MEN NABBED FOR DRUGS

POLICEMEN who responded to a trouble alarm about two men arguing in barangay Labogon, Mandaue City arrested both men after they were found carrying packs of suspected shabu.

Ernesto Ynclino,48, a laborer, and Donald Godinez, 28, a habal-habal driver, were detained at the Basak police precinct while waiting for charges to be filed against them.

Basak police rushed to sitio Sto. Rosario on Wednesday afternoon after they received the trouble alarm. The two men were still arguing when police arrived.

Ynclino was about to leave when police saw something bulging in his waist. Police frisked Ynclino and recovered a .357 revolver and five packs of suspected shabu. Police said they also frisked Godinez and found three small packs of suspected shabu on him./CORRESPOMDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

CARPENTER SHOT DEAD AT HOME

A 38-YEAR-OLD carpenter was shot dead in his home in barangay Kang-actol, Dumanjug town, southern Cebu .

Police said no clear motive has been established yet in the killing of Hector Macoy, who died on the spot due to two gunshot wounds in the body.

Investigators are checking reports that Macoy left several carpentry works unfinished despite collecting full payment for his service.

Police said Macoy was at home when he heard someone calling his name past 2 a.m. yesterday.

Macoy opened the door to check when an unidentified assailant shot him.
