Park n’ Go leads Power 40 basketball

PARK n’ Go Bakeshop logged its second straight win after crushing Water Market, 95-85, Tuesday night to snare the lead in the quarterfinal round of the Power Forty President’s Cup-2012 at the Emilio Jaca Memorial gym in Inayawan, Cebu City.

Water Market grabbed an impressive, 31-27 lead in the opening period behind skipper Vez Eleguin, Jun Libre and Efren Mosqueda but the Breadmakers responded with a, 17-13 run in the second quarter to forge a 44-all tie at the half.

Park n’ Go then unloaded a, 26-16 run in the third to head to the final canto with a  10-point advantage, 70-60, which it successfully defended until the final buzzer.

Erik Abatayo, Wewe Cabrera and Gogo Fuentes led Park n’ Go with 14 points each while Vez Eleguin scattered a game-high 22 points for Water Market.

Earlier, the Utility Assurance Corp. (UTASSCO) routed Ang Tibay Mo, 105-73, by far, the biggest winning margin of the tournament.

Utassco led from start to finish with Alex Mercado scoring 23 points while Teody Ebrado and Flor Yosores combined for 29 markers.

Jun Sumargo and Edwin Dejacto paced Ang Tibay Mo (2-0) with 20 and 15 points, respectively.
