/ 07:47 AM July 03, 2011

THE DEFENDING champions Manila Sharks will take the top seed heading to the playoffs of the Baseball Philippines Series 8 after they blasted the Alabang Tigers, 13-6, at the Rizal Memorial baseball stadium yesterday.

The win, the Sharks’ ninth against one loss, also foiled the Cebu Dolphins’ bid for the No. 1 berth despite the latter’s 4-2 victory over the Dumaguete Uni-Bikers, 4-2, in Clark Field, Pampanga also yesterday.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador Harry Tomas will deliver the ceremonial pitch, kicking off today’s Pepsi Fil-Am Friendship Day All-Star Game at the Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City.
