MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino III is serious in implementing the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), said Agrarian Reform Secretary Virgilio “Gil” delos Reyes in an interview early Wednesday on Radyo Inquirer with co-anchors Susan K, Den Macaranas and Captain Dylan Halili.

“The President is very serious in pursuing land reform. In fact, he has given the Department of Agrarian Reform this year a big, if not, more than enough, budget for us to accomplish what we have to do,” said Secretary delos Reyes.

In the same interview, he also tackled the basics of CARP, the problems besetting the implementation of the law, especially on land acquisition from private owners and distribution to farmer-beneficiaries.
