1 killed, 22 hurt as bus hits electric pole in Benguet
MANILA, Philippines – A bus crashed into an electric pole in Benguet Tuesday evening, killing one person and injuring 22 others, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council reported.
The unidentified fatality was described as between 18 and 25 years old. The victim died while being treated at the Baguio General Hospital Medical Center (BGHMC).
According to NDRMC, the Benguet Transit bus from Baguio City was on its way to Conner, Apayao, when it hit an electric pole on sitio Umisbeg, Taloy Sur, Tuba in Benguet around 6:10 p.m. due to a loose brake. The vehicle was trying to avoid collision with other vehicles, the report added.
Twenty-two other passengers who were injured were brought to BGHMC, the NDRRMC said.
