Mangrove planting marks Earth Day observance

IN celebration of Earth Day 2012, Global Business Power Corp., through its subsidiaries Cebu Energy Development Corp. and Toledo Power Company, conducted a mangrove planting last April 24 in barangay Talavera, Toledo City.

Global Power planted an additional 4,350 mangrove propagules during the event.  Since 2006, the power company has already planted 12,000 mangroves at a ten-hectare mangrove area.

Aside from the employee-volunteers of the two power firms, also present during the activity were the barangay officials of Talavera and representatives from the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office Toledo

The mangrove enrichment activity for Earth Day was one of the core values of Global Power — “Care for the Environment” — under the Kabilin program.

Global Power embarks on several corporate social responsibility projects focusing on health, education, environment and livelihood.
