THE Hanbada training ship of Korea Maritime University docked at the Cebu International Port in North Reclamation Area, Cebu City on May 14.
The ship’s passengers were welcomed by president Kunho “Ken” Choi of Cebu Korean Association.
They included 90 third year students and 40 from Korea Maritime University composed of professors, ship crew and ship captains.
Their visit was to explore Cebu’s beautiful beaches and places. The group stayed in Cebu until May 18 and proceeded to Cambodia.
The Hanbada, which is the training ship of Korea Maritime University, was constructed to take charge of practical and realistic training and education for high-class officers and engineers.
The “Han” of the name has two meanings — “only one” and “big.” Only one means “make the ocean for harmony and peace” and big means “proceed to the big ocean positively and progressively.”
The ship is equipped with training bridge, training engine control room, lecture rooms, multimedia room, seminar room, reading room, cadet duty space and satellite Internet system, salon, conference room, cadet bedroom, cadet recreation room, gymnasium, barber shop, shower room and sauna.
