Big Chill forces rubbermatch

THE BIG CHILL Superchargers kept their season alive as they thumped the Cebuana Lhuillier Gems, 111-70, in Game 2 of the semifinals of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the San Juan Gym.

With their backs against the wall, the Superchargers dominated the game from start to finish in the lopsided affair.

Big Chill was led by Alex Mallari, who scored a game-high 20 points.

The deciding game 3 is set on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The winner will face the winner of the other semifinal between defending champion NLEX and Blackwater Sports in a best-of-three titular series.

Elliot Tan contributed 14 points, Mac Montilla and Keith Jensen chipped in 13 apiece and reserve guard Mar Villahermosa added 11 for Big chill, which dominated the game from the start with excellent shooting and a pressing defense that took away the effectiveness of Cebuana Lhuillier’s stars led by reigning MVP Vic Manuel.

Jensen also had 11 rebounds as the Super Chargers manhandled the Gems off the boards, 53-39.

Lester Alvarez tallied 11 points and Manuel managed just 10 points for the Gems, who never really gained their rhythm after the Super Chargers closed the opening quarter with a 20-6 run. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
