MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has clarified that it does not have a text notification yet for traffic violations under the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP).

The agency said this after it cited an alleged text message circulating on social media regarding the payment of fines for NCAP offenses.

“The text message circulating regarding the payment of fines for violating the [NCAP] is fake and not from the [MMDA],” in Filipino, the MMDA said in a Facebook post on Saturday.

The MMDA also shared a screenshot of the supposed text message for NCAP violations and tagged it as “scam.”

“Currently, the MMDA has yet to have a text notification for NCAP violations, as it is still under development,” it pointed out.

The MMDA recently launched its “May Huli Ka” website to allow motorists to check online if they were cited for traffic violations.

In the same post, the agency encouraged the public to pay only through legitimate payment channels that can be found in the link: https://mayhulika.mmda.gov.ph/pay-my-fine.

“If you receive a suspicious message or post on social media, you may call the MMDA Hotline 136 or send a message to the MMDA official accounts,” said the MMDA.
