Beware of text scam—DSWD

/ 03:18 AM June 05, 2012

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday warned the public against text scams using the name of its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, which provides cash assistance to impoverished families.

Under the conditional cash transfer program, the government provides cash assistance to the poorest families that send their children to school and have regular checkups for pregnant women.

The text message being circulated, which claims to have come from a Lea Ramos, states that the cell phone user has won cash in a raffle promo connected to the cash transfer program. The text message also uses the name of President Aquino.
