MANILA, Philippines—A 27-year-old security guard was gunned down in Batangas before dawn Monday by still unidentified robbers who made off with P2.5 million from a rice mill, police said.
Senior Inspector Ricky Dalisay Sr., deputy chief of Sto. Tomas police, said the victim, Jojo Raenzares, was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head inside the guard house of M.A Reyes Trading located along Barangay (village) San Jose, Sto. Tomas.
Two or three robbers raided the rice mill and stole a portable vault containing P2.5 million around 5 a.m., according to police.
Dalisay said police found no signs of forced entry into the mill owned by Maribel Reyes Alcoser who was still at her house when the robbery took place.
Police launched an investigation into the case. Jamie Marie Elona
