CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The local government is set to fully implement its Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) on June 3 following the final approval from government agencies.
This move is aimed at decongesting traffic and improving urban mobility.
In an interview on Thursday, Nonito Oclarit, chief of the Roads and Traffic Administration, confirmed the implementation date.
“This has been a crucial part of the city’s ongoing efforts to modernize its transportation system, coming after a series of extensive dialogues and consultations conducted on the ground,” he said.
The LPTRP features more than 70 distinct public transport routes.
Amid the implementation plan, some of these routes are yet to be adopted by transport cooperatives, pending the passage of a corresponding ordinance by the city council./apl
