INQUIRER.net remains most visited PH news site in Q1 2025
MANILA, Philippines—INQUIRER.net maintained its position as the most visited news website in the Philippines from January to March 2025, according to data from web analytics firm Similarweb.
The site recorded 27.35 million total visits during the first quarter of the year, leading ahead of GMA Network (24.91 million), ABS-CBN News (19.88 million), Philstar.com (17.97 million), and Rappler (13.48 million).
Strength across search and direct traffic
According to Similarweb’s report, INQUIRER.net attracted the highest number of users from both organic search and direct visits.
- Organic traffic (unpaid search engine results) totaled 13.8 million, leading all news sites.
- Direct traffic (users entering the URL directly or through bookmarks) reached 7.1 million, again ahead of competitors.
The strong organic performance highlights INQUIRER.net’s visibility and authority on search platforms, while its leadership in direct traffic reflects a loyal readership and robust brand recall.
Device usage data showed that 82.8 percent of INQUIRER.net’s audience accessed the site through mobile devices, while 17.2 percent used desktop computers. This reflects broader consumption patterns among Filipinos, who increasingly rely on smartphones and tablets for news access.
Engagement metrics: Readers stay longer, return more
Beyond just attracting visitors, INQUIRER.net also posted strong engagement scores:
- Average monthly visits: 9.118 million — the highest among the top Philippine news websites
- Monthly unique visitors: 3.086 million
- Visits per unique visitor: 2.95 — highest among top news competitors
- Average visit duration: 2 minutes and 46 seconds — longest among major news sites
- Pages per visit: 2.24
INQUIRER.net’s visits per user figure — nearly three visits per unique visitor — indicates a readership that returns consistently for updates and coverage.
Meanwhile, while GMA Network led slightly in monthly unique visitors with 3.518 million, INQUIRER.net outperformed in both visit frequency and time spent per session, crucial indicators of audience loyalty.
In terms of total monthly page views, INQUIRER.net posted 20.42 million — again among the highest, second only to GMA Network.
How the numbers stack up over time
The Q1 2025 results reaffirm INQUIRER.net’s leadership in Philippine digital news, showing consistent strength even when compared year-on-year.
In the same period last year (Q1 2024), INQUIRER.net registered 27.37 million visits, slightly higher than its 27.35 million visits in Q1 2025 — a marginal dip of just 0.07 percent, indicating stable audience demand despite increased competition.
Similarly, average monthly visits slipped only slightly from 9.125 million in Q1 2024 to 9.118 million in Q1 2025 — a minimal change that reflects seasonal fluctuations more than any significant audience loss.
Despite tighter competition across digital platforms, INQUIRER.net continued to dominate key engagement metrics, posting the highest visits per user, longest average visit duration, and strongest performance in organic and direct traffic among top Philippine news websites.
For further context, INQUIRER.net also led the industry for the entire 2024 calendar year, registering 121.5 million total visits — ahead of both GMA Network (101.3 million) and Philstar.com (98.5 million).
