Five public elementary schools in Metro Cebu now have additional books for reading materials or reference.

The Guadalupe Elementary School, Guba Elementary School and Mabolo Elementary School in Cebu City, Opao Elementary School in Mandaue City and Tayud Elementary School in Liloan town, northern Cebu had each received a library kit containing books.

Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (AFI) president Jon Ramon Aboitiz and managing trustee Sonny Carpio turned over the library kits to the principals of the recipient schools.

“Teach the young minds,” Aboitiz said during the turnover.

He also urged the principals to encourage their students to read and to fully utilize the books.

Before the turnover of library kits, the five schools also got two-classroom preschool buildings from AFI, in partnership with the Aklat, Gabay, Aruga Tungo sa Pag-Angat at Pag-Asa (AGAPP) Foundation.

The Aboitiz Foundation Inc. gives out school supplies and equipment to its partner schools to help improve the quality of education in the country and to encourage students to make reading a habit.

A total of 98 library kits have since been donated to beneficiary schools in areas where Aboitiz Group companies operate.
