MMDA suspends number coding on April 17, 18

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will lift its number coding scheme on April 17 and 18, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, respectively.
MANILA, Philippines — The expanded number coding scheme will be suspended on April 17 and 18, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Friday.
“Sa number coding scheme, April 17 and 18, suspended ang number coding,” MMDA Chairman Don Artes said in a press conference about the MMDA’s preparation for Holy Week this year at the agency’s headquarters.
Number coding or the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program is implemented by the MMDA in a bid to lessen traffic congestion along the metropolis’ thoroughfares.

To assist motorists and travelers leading up to Holy Week 2025, the MMDA said it would deploy over 2,500 personnel and over 860 assets across Metro Manila.
