a basic news and feature writing workshop for its field personnel composed of 28 municipal agrarian reform officers (MAROs) and development facilitators (DFs) last May 23 at the DAR Cebu conference room.
Philippine Information Agency in Central Visayas (PIA-7) Director Minerva Newman was the workshop’s resource speaker and facilitator.
Among the topics discussed were the communication process, clear effective writing, news writing, feature writing: the art of telling stories and current issues in journalism.
Dr. Andrea Paciana Labra, chief agrarian reform program officer, said, “The workshop aims to equip the MAROs and DFs with the basic news and feature writing skills for them to better communicate the agrarian reform programs and project to the public through our provincial quarterly newsletter Bidlisiw and DAR regional newsletter Bagong Yutawhan and various media outlets.”
OIC Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II Isaganie Yee was thankful for the support of PIA-7.
He said he hoped that the workshops would help the field personnel in disseminating the good news, stories and gains in the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and in strengthening the information drive of the department.
