THE Metropolitan Cebu Water District is giving free water to the victims of the fire that left more than 2,200 persons homeless in barangay Luz last May 11.
Two communal faucets were installed, which the victims can use for one month.
Israel Ortiz, officer in charge of the Service Connection Installation department, said MCWD always provides free water to victims of big fires within its franchise area as part of its corporate social responsibility.
MCWD is a government-owned and -controlled corporation.
The fire in barangay Luz gutted some 290 houses occupied by 565 families, who are temporarily staying in schools, but will soon have to move out as classes start on June 4.
Last March, MCWD also installed two communal faucets in barangay Suba after an early morning fire gutted 153 houses leaving more than 400 families homeless.
