COUPLE NABBED FOR ABORTION
POLICE arrested a woman about to perform an abortion in barangay T. Padilla, Cebu City.
Jocylyn Balunan and her live-in partner Ensebio Brañola, 35, were arrested in their rented apartment.
The arrest was made by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) on Wednesday night.
The couple denied any wrongdoing and were detained at the CIDG-7 office. They will be charged for violation of Article 256 of the Revised Penal Code, said police.
CIDG-7 investigator Michael Ferolino said they have at least three witnesses against the suspect.
Most of Balunan’s clients were students, said police.
Police said the woman was paid depending how advanced the pregnancy was or P3,000 for each month.
A police entrapment operation was conducted after they received reports that the woman was performing abortions.

CALL CENTER AGENT HURT IN ROBBERY
A CALL center agent was wounded after he fought off a robber in barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City.
Raffy Temonion, 23, who works at Interface, sustained stab wounds in different parts of the body.
Police said the man had just come from work when he was attacked early morning yesterday.
The call center agent was walking along Lopez-Jaena Street when an unidentified man poked a knife at him and declared a holdup. The robber demanded for the victim’s backpack but he refused to give it up. The robber stabbed Temonion repeatedly.
The victim grappled for the knife but was overpowered and was stabbed again until he slumped on the ground.
The robber ran away without the bag.

2 MEN KILLED IN DRINKING SPREE
TWO persons were killed while another man was wounded after they were shot while having a drinking session by the road in Carcar City, southern Cebu, on Wednesday night.
Staff of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City confirmed the death of 16-year-old Reggie Pabroa of sitio Luan-luan, Poblacion 1, Carcar City.
Carcar police identified the other fatality as a certain Glenn. Wounded was Juanito Saraga, 41.
The victims were drinking when three motorcycle-riding men arrived and without warning opened fire before driving away.
Police are still investigating the motive for the attack.

INDIAN NATIONAL HANGS SELF
A 23-YEAR-OLD Indian national was found hanging by the neck in his rented house in Carcar City, southern Cebu.
Ankush Kumar was declared dead when he was rushed to the Carcar District Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
Rajader Kumar, the victim’s brother, told police that the victim was mentally unstable and had tried to commit suicide in the past.

FARMER ELECTROCUTED
A 36-YEAR-OLD farmer was electrocuted in barangay Caliongan, Dalaguete town, southern Cebu.
Enrique Obiedo Bedro suffered burns in the body.
Police said the farmer was carrying a basket full of cabbage on his way home but the basket got snagged on low-hanging wires of an electric cooperative.
Police said Bedro tried to remove the wire when he was electrocuted.
