SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur—Police uprooted and burned P2.3 million worth of marijuana plants  in Sitio Nagawa, Barangay Caoayan, Sugpon town during an anti-narcotic operation on Wednesday, March 12.

According to a report from the Sugpon Municipal Police Station, at least 11,500 fully grown plants from three plantations covering a total of 4,000 square meters were destroyed during the operation.

But police noted that no cultivators were apprehended during the operation.

Samples of the marijuana plants were turned over to the regional officw od the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency before being submitted to the Ilocos Sur Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, the police said. (Kenneth P. Tabin/Contributor)
