Robbers? Disgruntled clients?
Homicide probers have yet to find out as the family of Ernesto Gulfo grieved over his death Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent Roberto Villanueva, directorial staff chief of the Northern Police District, said that Gulfo was declared dead on arrival at the MCU hospital after sustaining three gunshot wounds to his chest.
Police said the slaying took place inside Gulfo’s shop on Governor Pascual Avenue, Sitio 6, Catmon, Malabon City around 7:30 a.m.
Initial investigation showed that the gunman – about 30-32 years old and wearing a cap, a denim jacket and jeans – “casually” walked into Gulfo’s shop and pretended to ask about the price of the latter’s bronze merchandise, Villanueva said.
Moments later, the man drew his .45 caliber pistol from his bag and shot Gulfo thrice in the chest at “close range.”
Villanueva said the suspect was with another man who acted as his lookout.
Police have yet to identify the motive of the slaying, but said that it could possibly be related to Gulfo’s leadership to a certain community group. Jamie Marie Elona
