North vs South golf kicks off at Alabang

A SLAM-BANG golf showdown comes off the wraps today as The Duel – North vs South tees off in a first-ever regional showdown featuring the country’s finest at the Alabang Golf and Country Club.

Leading the South squad is former Cebu Country Club standout Charles Hong, who will play with a roster that features former ICTSI-Philippine Golf Tour Order of Merit winners Elmer Salvador and Jay Bayron and recent ICTSI Eagle Ridge Invitational champion Tony Lascuna.

Team South will be backstopped by fellow Davaoenos Jhonnel Ababa, Cassius Casas, Marvin Dumandan, Mhark Fernando, Anthony Fernando, Elmer Saban, Ferdie Aunzo and Rufino Bayron and Iloilo’s Richard Sinfuego.

Play will be foursomes (alternate shot) starting at 7:30 a.m. and four-ball (best ball) at 12:30 p.m. with five matches each in the first two days. The singles  will be played Friday.

Team North will be captained by Cookie La’O, whose team will have Angelo Que, Artemio Murakami and Gerald Rosales. Completing the team will be Carl Santos-Ocampo, Jun Bernis, Benjie Magada, Gene Bondoc, Michael Bibat, Randy Garalde and Joenard Rates.  /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
