Bus rob suspect killed by QC cops

A suspected robber preying on bus passengers was killed while his companion was arrested on Edsa in Quezon City before dawn Tuesday.

Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo, Station 10 commander of the Quezon City Police District, identified the slain suspect as Jeffrey Bata based on an ID found in his wallet.

Arrested was Elmer Sahagun, 27, a resident of Maunlad Street, Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City.

Two other suspects managed to escape in an encounter with police at around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Pedrozo said the suspects boarded a northbound Cherry bus in Cubao, declared a holdup, and got off the vehicle with the passengers’ cash and valuables at the corner of Edsa and NIA Road.

A shoot-out ensued when the fleeing suspects were spotted by a mobile patrol team, Pedrozo said. Nancy Carvajal
